About Leith Museum Collection: Work is underway by Scottish Historic Buildings
Trust to develop a museum for Leith, in consultation and collaboration with a range
of individuals, organisations and groups whose passion and knowledge about Leith
are vital. The Leith Museum Collection is digital, and comprises new material as well
as sharing items in other organisations’ collections through partnership agreements.
Its purpose is to collect material relating to the full breadth of the history of Leith for
recording, sharing and celebrating, thereby enabling people to discover and deepen
knowledge and understanding of Leith’s heritage.

About Scottish Historic Buildings Trust: Scottish Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT)
is a leading independent conservation charity in Scotland, working nationwide to
restore historic buildings through collaborative partnerships, ensuring heritage assets
remain viable, beneficial, sustainable and inclusive for the future.
SHBT is the custodian of Leith Custom House on behalf of the City of Edinburgh
Council, and is tasked with maintaining the building whilst developing exciting plans
for its restoration and transformation into the home of a museum for Leith.
SHBT is overseeing the creation of the digital Leith Museum Collection, which will
ultimately be used in creative and immersive ways to tell the many stories of Leith’s
past.
